I love this Stoic flow chart posted by Mark Frauenfelder of BoingBoing. It will work for life’s thornier issues as well as all the frustrations of gardening, brewing etc. covered on this blog.

I needed to see this this morning
Already printed out and posted where I’ll see it regularly.
LOVE IT!
I printed this out and hung it on my fridge. Thanks for sharing!
I just read the book A Guide to the Good Life: The Ancient Art of Stoic Joy by William B. Irvine. Have you read it? It’s a really great summary of stoic ideas.
Irvine’s book is excellent–highly recommended.
very Taoist.
This is my default method of dealing with issues. But I like seeing it in the the nifty flowchart format. Have I mentioned that you are awesome this week?
@Kevin: And you’re awesome-sauce too!
What if you have a problem and you can do two things about it but you don’t know which one is better?
Anonymous, The Stoics would say that you should be thankful that you are in a position to make a choice between two options.
And Scott, I have read Irvine’s excellent book. He actually adds a third catagory to this chart that might be called, “things that you have parital control over.” So, alas, life is a bit more complex.
