If you missed it: today it was confirmed that Facebook massively & knowingly inflated its video-view statistics, which had the DIRECT consequence of 90% of media orgs firing writers in favor of expensive video producers, who also got fired when it turned out video was worthless https://t.co/WqdAUBIe6L

This would be HILARIOUS if it weren't so sad. That a candidate for public office would say something this uninformed is really a very bad sign for political discourse. I refuse to pretend this kind of crap is normal. https://t.co/jW7T3S0UgH

Burma: Rivers of Flavor. Naomi Duguid’s heralded cookbooks have always transcended the category to become “something larger and more important” (Los Angeles Times). Each in its own way is “a breakthrough book . . . a major contribution” (The New York Times). And as Burma opens up after a half century of seclusion, who better than Duguid—the esteemed author of Hot Sour Salty Sweet—to introduce the country and its food and flavors to the West.
I’m in the UK and have extra loo roll, beans and pasta in the cupboards. I already have a garden and keep a modest stockpile in case of supply problems affecting the supermarkets ‘just in time’ supply strategy- weather, strikes, fuel problems etc. ‘9 meals from anarchy’ is a real possibility in all nations with a similar strategy.
I don’t consider myself a hoarder, just sensible. I’m also donating more food to food banks as people needing that help will suffer most of all if supply chains are interrupted.
Chow Yun-fat’s lifestyle is admirable on several levels, but I am curious as to why he doesn’t donate the money now? Why wait until you’re dead?
Hazel–love your blog–it’s beautiful. Hope all goes well for you and your family.
Thank you, fingers crossed…
And I’m so glad you like my blog. It’s still pretty new but I’m enjoying writing it.
