The Green Burial Guidebook: Everything You Need to Plan an Affordable, Environmentally Friendly Burial. Funeral expenses in the United States average more than $10,000. And every year conventional funerals bury millions of tons of wood, concrete, and metals, as well as millions of gallons of carcinogenic embalming fluid. There is a better way, and Elizabeth Fournier, affectionately dubbed the “Green Reaper,” walks you through it, step-by-step. She provides comprehensive and compassionate guidance, covering everything from green burial planning and home funeral basics to legal guidelines and outside-the-box options, such as burials at sea.
Thanks for this! I’ve flagged the book to-read amongst my giant pile of things I want to read. I first came across green burials about 7 years ago with someone I was then-FB friends with after her husband passed away. He had a green burial somewhere in the mid-west. I was intrigued ever since but figured I wouldn’t be able to have something like that when the time came.
Also, thanks for having a diverse array of people on your podcast. Y’all continue to put together great guests and conversations that I really enjoy.
I have read a bit about this subject and find it doable and intriguing.
I felt the same way. Didn’t really know that it was an option in most places.
Thanks for this–it was so timely. My wife and I were just talking about this yesterday and were wondering how to make it possible when that time arrives.
