Take the Root Simple Poll

Dear Readers,

We’re curious as to how Root Simple could please you best. To that end, we’ve created a short four question poll. It would really help us if you would take a minute and fill it out.

If you have other feedback which does not fit into poll form, please leave a note for us in the comments.

Many thanks!

Erik and Kelly

  1. It is no reflection on you that I don’t listen to the podcasts, I don’t listen to any podcasts.

    • Thanks for the feedback Jamie and, no problem, I don’t expect everyone to listen to the podcast. One of the reasons we don the podcast is as an excuse to reach out, interview and listen to other voices. Those conversations influence what we write about on the blog.

    • That’s what I wanted to say as well. I’m sure the podcasts must be interesting but I’m not in the habit of listening to podcasts at all.

  2. I am always disappointed when information I would like to hear is on a podcast. I listened to the first two, but it was excruciating because I could not hear everything said. So, I had to sit right with the computer and strain to hear. A video would be preferable. The written word is better than listening to the computer.

It is not you; it’s me.

    • You might do better using headphones or amplified speakers when you listen. I know that my old laptop is not easy to hear, even on full volume, if I just use the built-in speakers.

  3. It would be really cool if you did a podcast about The Age of Limits conference you went to. I bet that would be informative AND funny

    • Kelly, our friend John (who went with us) sat down and talked about the Age of Limits conference. I’ve never edited this conversation and have sat on it for two years now. The experience of this conference was so weird and disruptive that I’ve avoided putting a show together about it. Maybe it’s time I got around to it . . .

  4. I’ve recently listened to my first podcast – natural cheese making. I rarely have the time to sit and listen to something so long (I was doing the dishes at the time) but there was a lot of interesting info. and I will make the effort to listen to it again with my full attention on it. I keep goats and have a lot of raw milk to make use of, so this podcast was ideal for me.

Transcribed podcasts would be excellent for me.

Thanks for the blog, it’s the only one I read regularly with links to some great stuff – although I remember reading a post that you weren’t impressed with the ‘thanks for sharing’ tagline 🙂

  5. I too do not listen to ANY podcasts you have had topics on podcast I have been interested in and I join the chorus for their transcription.

  6. Please keep the podcasts. There are many different learning modalities. Some people are visual learners. Others are audio. I happen to be audio.

    • I agree with Max. I tend to listen to your podcasts in chunks if I am driving a long way or doing something tedious around the house. Then it becomes a few hours of learning instead of drudgery. I often don’t get to them when they are first posted, but I get to all of them eventually.

  7. i tried the survey on phone and iPad, dIdnt work on either. only the first question shows and when I checked the first answer nothing happened. it didn’t go to next page

    • Sorry about this–it’s the first time I’ve used Survey Monkey. It’s good to be reminded that I need to make sure everything is readable on a phone. Hopefully the blog works for you.

  8. I love the podcasts! It’s great hearing both your voices and the occasional banter and “thought stylings”. My commute is long and the day at the office drags, but listening to your podcasts makes it more bearable.

  9. I second what Connie said. Poll wasn’t visible in the email and then only one question on iPhone.

  10. I can’t take the poll. iPhone.
    First question sorta in screen.
    Won’t move.
    Not a good start.

  11. Same here! Only one question — about frequency of posts. I love reading Root Simple, and always find useful info here. However, it is frustrating that it is not optimized for mobile devices.

  12. I ditto the others – love you, don’t love podcasts – I would LOVE a transcription!! The poll was also a bust on my iPhone. I’m glad other people mentioned it…I wonder how long I would have sat there trying…? On another note, I giggle every time I see a “flipper fence”.

  13. I don’t listen to podcasts.I’d rather read a transcript, with that even being shortened to just the info. I prefer to not multi task( like while gardening) as that doesn’t work for me. I’d rather read the cliff note version with links to more detatils if needed. thanks. I left L.A. in 1969, so its nice to to revisit on occasion. DCBA from salem oregon

  14. Hey! Thanks for shutting down. At least you are aware.
You two talk about frustrating thing all the time. Happy face.
I am still here and checking in.
    But.
I think the old shorter posts were the best.
Picture Sunday. Short and sweet. Used to be packed full of good stuff in much shorter posts. Can’t decide if you are just padding site now.
    Much too involved now.
I do not do podcasts yet. Probably won’t. Don’t like earbuds.
I thinks sites need to consider age? interests?
Doing too much. Takes too much time. No one reads to just one blog. Thanks.
