Your link to the handyman article doesn’t work.
I added a slash “/” between “com” and “home” and that took me to the site. Very good information to be found there.
thank you! I’m trying to figure out how to fix that…this tweet reposting thing is very strange backstage.
When we drove from Memphis to my great-aunt’s house in Mississippi, my great Aunt Willie would say, “We get up with the chickens and go to bed with the chickens.” I was about 7 or less and marveled that they would all go sleep out in the chicken house when I could see five bedrooms down the hallway. Since they also had an outhouse that frightened me and horseflies that bit, I just accepted that they slept in the chicken house. They also tried to trick me into drinking fresh milk and riding a horse. So, I suppose nothing they did was really too shocking.
Ha!!!
I grew up on a farm and used to marvel when people said that “farmers get up at sunrise and work until sunset”. I would have loved to be able to sleep in that late and knock off work that early! 😉
My backyard has large trees in it. This is great in the summer for shading the house, it really saves on A/C. However it plays havoc with trying to grow vegetables.
I wish someone would write an article on how grow vegetables around trees.
Actually, there are sites that tell what food plants can be grown in shade or partial shade. About 80% of my yard is mostly full shade. However, if I used the 20% in full sun is absolutely blazing and almost too hot to even walk in that area.
Bill,
Have you ever heard: “A man’s work is from sun to sun, but a woman’s work is never done.”?
There were times I wanted to knock off at midnight!
By the way, “sun to sun” is sunrise to sunset.
