I just updated an old post–an epic post– on my recipe for homemade lotion/moisturizing cream. It’s good stuff– all I’ve used for years and my secret for eternal youth and spotless skin. If you haven’t seen it, or haven’t seen it for a while, check it out.
Now I have DEVO in my head… Good Times! ;^)

Why yes, thank you for asking! I made the Whip last year. The part where the water is mixed with the oil and beeswax literally got me squealing with delight, it was so fun to observe. In fact, I wrote about it — as well as your shampoo and hair rinse recipes — here: http://gatherandgrow.org/2013/02/28/homemade-body-care/
Thanks again for the recipe!
Can’t wait to try this. I’m wondering about other oils. Here in SW Wisconsin, we have access to locally-grown high-oleic sunflower oil. Some call it “the olive oil of the midwest.” “its fat content is over 80% monounsaturated (its only close competitor is olive oil, at approximately 70%).” (driftlessorganics.com) Do you think this would work? Or is there something else about olive oil that makes it possible to get the whip?
I’m sorry, Sarah– as Michelle points out, I missed your comment somehow. I think using local sunflower oil is a wonderful idea. I hope you ended up giving it a try!
Sarah I see that it’s been a long time since you asked your question but never got a response. I don’t understand why people blog and then ignore their readers questions. I see it all the time. Anyway, I can tell you that sunflower oil would work just fine. It’s actually a bit less greasy feeling on the skin than olive oil so I prefer it in my skincare recipes. It’s very good for acne prone skin or normal skin. 🙂
Haven’t tried it yet, but this exchange of comments has reminded me to get busy. We’re in the dry skin season here, so the time is right. Thanks!
