Video Sundays: The CritterCam is Back!

And so are the critters! This video, taken the other night, shows a possum wandering around in front of a skunk-trashed raised bed. Planting time is near, so I’m working on our defenses.

  1. I like possums. Used to visit my garden when I lived on the coast. Leave pieces of raw onion in area you have snails and slugs. Voilla gone. Possum do smell like a walking trash can but easy trade off.

  2. Try chocolate flavored Exlax for skunks. Upsets their stomachs and they remember and avoid your property.

  3. Ironic, I just read a long article in one of my mail subs about ‘possums. They’re intelligent, resourceful, carry about 200 ticks on their bodies at any given time (in turn they keep Lyme disease down), will eat ANYTHING, have a gestation period of only 12 days (usually birthing twice a year thank God), and as the article stated, we should be glad these nasty, ugly, large rat looking animals are in our yards. The article was in the National Wildlife spring edition. I’ve never liked this critter, but I will look at them a little differently now. Not much though *shuddering.
