  1. I am now the proud owner of two chayote squash. The article said only one was necessary, and to select an older one with a tough skin, but the ones at the store all looked the same–green and about the size of a large avocado. So, I bought two. I will now put them on the counter and stare at them until (I hope) they sprout. I have searched the web for tips. Any tips offered here would be much appreciated. I am in zone 8b.
