  1. When I stayed in England with my friend’s family in the 1960s, her mother told me about the rationing there during the war–which was much more stringent than anything we had here–and it continued into the 1950s. Even when I was there in the 60s, and she would buy meat, she would get just exactly enough so that everyone had a portion–with nothing left over.

  2. I love that video so much, and especially the old ladies paddling in the village pond. Not sure how my kids would feel if I offered them a carrot on a stick!
