  1. We have the same variety. And it has the BEST peaches. Just wish ours would grow up and not out–but we missed the one-week pruning window again. Ours budded out one week after dropping its last groups of leaves.

  2. Great picture. Here in Long Beach we’ve got a Desert Delight nectarine that’s also got fruit already. The bees have been going crazy.

  3. @Dree: Lora aka Homegrown Neighbor taught us to strip the branches of fruit trees in the winter. You know when the leaves are half dead but clinging on? Just run your hand along the branch and they’ll fall off. If they don’t, they’re not ready. I guess we don’t have enough bad weather to send them flying.

    • I will have to try that come Thanksgiving.

Ours ripens in late May-June. And it is done 2 weeks later. Lots of gorging here, but our tree is so small we don’t get enough to can. And this year the chickens are sitting in the tree and eating the flowers, so it is being thinned for the first time ever.

  4. I added a couple of “low chill” cherry trees (Minnie Royal and Royal Lee) to my little urban S. Cal farm today. Does anyone have any experience with these two varieties? I also added a bush Mulberry as an experiment.

  5. I have my fingers and toes crossed that we get any fruit at all – last year the fricka-fracking squirrels got every last piece off of 4 trees (peaches, plums, nectarines and apricots) – they were eating them at the green golf-ball stage. DOH!! I hope this year I get a chance to enjoy the fruits of my labor!!
The blossoms sure are purty, though. Thanks for sharing!
