What Do You Love?

A very talented filmmaker named Alex Gorosh did this superbly shot little mini-doc about little old me for Good Magazine. It’s part of a series of videos entitled “What Do You Love?” Thanks Alex!

  1. I love learning new things, especially around how to live a bit more sustainably. I also love that there are a lot of different options – many of them seem awfully interesting right now.

  2. That is fantastic! I love that there are so many good things in this urban homesteading world I live in… and you guys started it for me, really, with your nifty little book! I started/ participate in an Urban Homesteading Club now, sharing our journey with others doing the same sort of thing in Canberra, and I love getting together with them once a month to chat, discuss, swap stuff, tell tales and ask questions. I love talking about compost, chickens, preserving and DIYing with people who ‘get it’!!

  3. I love learning things that are “old fashioned.” I love birds….everything about them. I love creating food in the kitchen, especially when it makes people shocked “You MADE this?!” I walking.

I love the video too! Good work!

  4. “this video not authorized for playback on this device”. I’m using an iPhone and can’t imagine what situation would lead to this lack of authorization. Too bad — I was looking forward to seeing this short film.

  5. Please excuse this off-topic question. How old/how large does a prickly pear cactus need to be before it bears fruit? I started mine about 3 years ago from one cactus pad and it’s now about 2 feet high with 10-15 pads. Hoping for some fruit in the next few years…

  6. Hey Cindy–good question. I’m not sure. I’ve got a mature cactus that pumps out a lot of fruit. I propagated the same plant and those small offspring, now three years old, have not produced yet. Plenty of pads in the spring, though.
